From the Shelf: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry

Currently Reading: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin

This is a fantastic read! Literature featuring literature. A book of short stories with chapter titles that serve as a book list [that I want to read all of] for the main character's daughter. I got this book as a gift from my father this past Christmas and without knowing much about it I started reading just before Father's Day weekend. The ultimate father-daughter story, possibly why I relate to it so well. As A.J. says in the book, there is something to be said about 'encountering stories at precisely the right time in our lives.

There are so many good quotes in this book but I don't want to ruin everything for you so I'll leave you with one last quote [AND please read this book!]

You know everything you need to know about a person from the answer to the question, What is your favorite book?

From the Shelf: The Marco Effect

Currently reading: The Marco Effect by Jussi Adler-Olsen

This is the fifth book in Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen's Department Q series. I've read all four [The Keeper of Lost Causes, The Absent One, A Conspiracy of Faith, and The Purity of Vengeance] preceding Department Q books already and would definitely recommend the series. While they are translations and there is an occasional word or tense off, overall they are captivating thrillers!
